Singer Bruno Mars has escaped jail after being busted for cocaine possession in Las Vegas. The star was arrested at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on September 19, 2010 after a bathroom attendant told hotel security that Mars took a bag of 'white powdery substance' into one of the stalls. He was officially charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance back in January. But in a Las Vegas courtroom, it was revealed that Mars had struck a plea deal — meaning he has avoided any jail time. According to a report on TMZ.com, Mars' plea deal was accepted and if he keeps his nose clean for the next year, his record will be wiped clean too. The singer and the Clark County District Attorney apparently struck a deal in which Mars would plead guilty to possession of a controlled substance but the charge will be expunged from his record if he stays out of trouble for the next 12 months. Mars was in court with his lawyers, Blair Berk and David Chesnoff, when his plea deal was formally entered. He also has to complete 200 hours of community service and it will all become official at his next court appearance .
